PETER MARKS 1951 - 2003

Peter Marks joined the Club in 1991 and went on to play 105 games participating in 5 winning grand finals sides, the first in 1992 and then in consecutive years from 1994 to 1997. Peter was also a prominent and regular attendee as a Victorian Representative at the Superules National Carnivals held annually around Australia and had been planning to participate at the Perth Carnival this year.

Pete was truly a Legend at Diamond Valley and in his capacity as a contributing member introduced many new players mainly from Hurstbridge. By chance a couple even play and to this day Diamond Valley has retained a tremendous affiliation with the Hurstbridge Football Club where many of its former players strip each game for a kick in the Supers & Masters

Pete's hosting of the Clubs annual Superules Xmas parties at his home in Yarrambat was somethng special as the kids would front up raring to get at the tractor and his horse and then to tackle the poor bugger that had volunteered to be Santa. Like the time Marksy had Santa Stan on the edge of the tractor blade seeing how high and how quickly the scoop could extend and at the same demonstrating to the onlookers how Santa Stans face could match the color of his suit. Not only would Pete be cooking the barbie, entertaining the ladies (he was a great host), spending time giving all the kids rides on the tractor his horse and his Harley and to finish of the day, he would produce the eggs to test out thoses adults that just couldn't catch.

Pete was a fun guy, champion clubman, friend of everyone he made contact with , extremely loyal and above all a good honest citizen and bloody top bloke.

Thanks from all of us Marksy for sharing the good times.

REST IN PEACE
